An exquisite pair of 19th-century pier cabinets, crafted by the esteemed English furniture maker Gillows, circa 1880. These decorative pieces feature rich burr walnut with amboyna burl accents, intricate ebony inlays, and parcel gilt detailing. Each cabinet is topped with a tall, framed mirror supported by turned and carved columns with acanthus ornamentation. The lower section includes a glazed door opening to a velvet-lined interior with removable shelves. Note that the set has experienced sympathetic alterations over time to the plinth and backing.
